FAQ Mama on the Glow
When did you adopt a plant-based diet?
Since I was very young I was drawn to a plant-based lifestyle, however it was difficult because no one in my family was a vegan or vegetarian. So, I went through many diet and lifestyle changes before coming back around full circle a few years ago. After years of eating too little calories, adopting restrictive yet not necessarily healthy diets, I decided to commit to a plant-based diet full of colorful fruits and vegetables, lentils, nuts, seeds, tofu and tempeh. I couldn’t be happier, healthier and stronger.
What is your background and work experience?
After studying and working as a journalist and creative artist, I made a career change and went to work in the healthcare industry in 2008. I have managed health spas, holistic spas and surgery centers in Los Angeles. I recognized a need for more thorough education to ‘become healthier’. Physicians don’t have time to go through nutrition and meal plans, fitness instruction, stress busters, sleep habits, guides to find happiness, and overall wellness plans with patients. This is how Mama on the Glow was eventually born.
Do you offer coaching?
I sure do! I have two incredibly powerful body and mind transformation courses. My clients are able to discover where they are stuck in their lives. The outcomes are phenomenal from dramatic weight loss, to a renewed youthful feeling, to finding a lasting loving relationship, and finally enjoying personal and professional success. How did you choose the name Mama on the Glow?
Mama on the Glow was born shortly after my son was born. I am a busy mom, always on the go, and focused on my clients achieving the inner and outer glow through a plant-based diet and spiritually healthy lifestyle. I came up with the name one day when I referred to myself as Mama on the Glow…and it stuck!
Do you have a cookbook?
It’s in the works! Until then, I have plenty of delicious, healthy recipes up on my site and on my Mama on the Glow Channel.
What will I need to get started following a plant-based lifestyle?
I have a post on the basics of a vegan shopping list on a budget. This is a great way to get started! Stock your fridge and pantry with healthy, wholesome foods like colorful organic fruits, vegetables, tofu, almond milk, coconut yogurt, lentils, nuts and seeds.
Do you have any tips on food photography and styling?
My creative passion is food and styling, so I spend many hours of my life thinking about and talking about this subject! I have a post on both food photography and food videos…hope you find them helpful!
Who designed your website?
I designed my Mama on the Glow website using WordPress. I spent my time designing while my newborn baby was napping 🙂 It is great creative fun!
Where are your favorite places to travel?
My absolute favorite city in the world is Paris. The glow, art, fashion, food and romance…oh my! My close European seconds are Tuscany, Stockholm (my family roots), London and Barcelona. I’m a beach girl at heart so I love getting away to Hana in Maui, a true paradise.
How did you meet your husband?
While I was managing a health spa, a client came in and told me she just met my future husband at her dermatologist appointment. She found a way to introduce us and it was love at first sight 😉
What do you like to do for fun?
I love spending a day at the beach listening to music (like Mark Knopfler, Radiohead, Moby, and The Avett Brothers) bringing a beautiful colorful picnic, reading, hiking with my family and playing chase with my baby boy!
Much love and light *
